Yesterday I found out that Mobitel (Sri Lanka) don’t have their GPRS/MMS settings online like Dialog GSM. Even Google couldn’t find them for me! After a little bit of searching online, I finally gave in and called Mobitel’s customer support. After listening to a few songs and a recording that kept reminding that the call was valuable to them and will be attended to soon, I was finally able to get the settings from them. So to save you the pain here they are:
GPRS Settings:
Access Point: ISP
WAP Settings
- Data bearer: Packet data
- Access point name: isp
- Authentication: Normal
- Homepage: http://wap.mobitel.lk
- Network type : IPv4
- Phone ip address : Atomatic
- Proxy serv. address : 192.168.050.163
- Proxy port number : 0
MMS Settings
- Connection name – MobitelMMS
- Data bearer – Packet data
- Access point name – wapmms
- Authentication – Normal
- Homepage – http://192.168.50.165
- Network type : IPv4
- Phone ip address : Atomatic
- Name server : Atomatic
- Proxy serv. address : 192.168.050.163
- Proxy port number : 8080
Now that Mobitel is supporting 3.5G HSPA technology I’m sure they would add this information to their website soon.

I recently bought a Sonyericson C510 from UK. I unlocked it and send it to Srilanka. I bought this because of taking cheapest calls through Skype between UK & Srilanka. That phone comes with built in Skype, Facebook, MSN features.
Normally the person who receives the phone is using dialog SIM. She had enabled GPRS settings and could access Facebook feature properly. But couldn’t log into Skype. One Dialog dealer shop had told, that feature is restricted to the country and you cannot take Skype calls and even cannot log in to the skype. After a few days she heard that there is a Mobitel package released for unlimited GPRS connectivity. Its called 490 Data package. But that SIM is not supports for take direct calls. Only supports for Data download. She had bought it and was trying to set GPRS setting by calling customer service. Even they had sent GPRS settings SMS, she couldn’t save it properly. It was not support for save properly. So she had bring it to a Mobitel Dealer and they had manually fixed the GPRS settings. After that Facebook feature is working properly. But still Skype cannot login. Now Mobitel dealer had told, that some times skype feature is not working properly for Sonyericson phones. They are telling its working for some of the Nokia phones.
So please this is a headach for me. Please guide me to fix this problem if is a way. We only wants to log in to Skype and take calls.

good work. even mobitel doesn’t provide these info. I found that in WAP settings we need to set proxy port as 8080 insted of 0. otherwise my syncML didnt work.

I am a South African, I purchased my mobitel E71Pro 3 days ago.
I tried to get settings for my phone for 2 days with no success.
My service provider Vodacom told me that they dont have settings for this phone. I tried to get contact details for mobitel South Africa but I could not.
I logged into my Vodacom4me account via PC and at homepage I went to Set up your phone link and I selected Nokia E71, they sent internet and MMS settings to my phone now I can surf the net .
If you are a South African with similar problem just try this.
